According to the Al-Bayan newspaper, Mr. Mohammed Shanef, Vice Chairman of the Yemen Corporation for Cement Industry and Marketing, revealed that his company is planning to increase its cement production capacity from current 1.8Mt annually to 5Mt annually by 2008. Savinskiy Cement increases production

Savinskiy Cement Plant (the Arkhangelsk region) increased production of cement by eight per cent in January-November 2005, to 668,000t, up 8,0 from the figure reported in entire 2004.  Design capacity of the plant is 1.4Mt, Eurocement reports.

Holcim Romania opens "clean" concrete plant

Holcim Romania said on Wednesday it spent US$2.36m to open its 11th environmentally friendly concrete plant.  The new plant has an output capacity of 120 cubic metres of concrete per hour and is completely automated, Holcim Romania said in a statement.  The plant is located in Targu Mures, central Romania. It employs technology reducing the amount of dust and noise it produces.

By the end of this week, Trinidad Cement Ltd (TCL) will raise its production to meet the demands of local and foreign markets. Holcim is expected to become the largest shareholder of China’s second largest cement producer Huaxin Cement.  The two companies are in acquisition talks, an official from the city government of Huangshi, where Huaxin Cement headquarters, said in a telephone interview on November 28. The United States could phase out a 55 per cent duty on Mexican cement under a plan that would establish a 3Mt annual import quota for three years, a US group said on Monday.
