Dangote to Produce 10Mt by 2006

Switzerland domestic cement deliveries up

Switzerland’s cement industry’s domestic cement deliveries grew 6.5 per cent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2005, local industry association cemsuisse said on October 13, 2005.  Cement deliveries rose 7.5 per cent on an annual basis in the first nine months of the year, it added. Orascom Construction Industries, or OCI denied having made any statements concerning intentions to invest in constructing a cement factory in Indonesia, according to a press release issued through the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange Thursday. Brazilian cement producer Camargo Correa is investing US$100m over the next three years in Argentina to boost production capacity and expand a cargo railway line, the company’s newly acquired Argentine holding said Wednesday.   The Argentine government said Tuesday it has approved Camargo Correa’s $1.025bn purchase of Holdtotal SA, a local company whose main asset is the country’s biggest cement producer, Loma Negra. Mexican cement growth slows

Although the Mexican cement industry grew three per cent in January-July this year, the national cement chamber (Canacem) predicted growth for the year would be just two per cent due to the slow progress in public works, according to newspaper Reforma.  Cement production totaled 19.9Mt in the first seven months of 2005, up 2.9 per cent year-on-year. TPI Polene Plc plans to petition the Central Bankruptcy Court this month seeking an extension of its debt-restructuring period by one year to December 2006, according to plan administrator Prachai Leophairatana. Argentina authorities approve Camargo-Correa purchase

The Argentine government has approved Brazilian engineering company Camargo-Correa’s (CCG) acquisition of local cement producer Loma Negra’s holding company, the Economy Ministry said in a statement released Tuesday.   The approval came from the secretary of technical coordination, the agency that oversees the country’s antitrust regulatory body.
