In 2004 Russia’s Eurocement Group produced over 9.6Mt of cement in 2004, a 13 per cent increase against the figure posted in the same period of 2003, the company’s press-service reported.

Topkinsky Cement, Russia, targets to construct a new clinker plant with an annual capacity of 500,000tpa on the basis of the Yashkinskoye deposit following acquisition of a license to develop the above-said field. PT Semen Gresik, Indonesia’s largest cement maker, said it sold 15.64Mt of cement in 2004, an increase of 11.5 per cent from 14.03Mt in 2003. Gujarat Ambuja Cements (GACL) could make a lot of money if it ever chooses to sell its 33 per cent stake in Ambuja Cement India (ACIL), the holding company which owns a 13.3 per cent stake in ACC and a 94 per cent stake in Ambuja Eastern Cement. In December, Ukrainian cement production fell by 8.5 per cent compared with December 2003, to 468,000t and compared to november 2004 figures, cement production fell by 33.4 per centor 235,000t compared with November.   For 2004 as a whole, cement production rose by 19.3 per cent or 1,719,000t compared with 2003, to 10,635,000t. More than 15 enterprises produce cement in Ukraine, and their total annual capacity is more than 20Mt.
