Cement demand in Spain increased 3.5 per cent year-on-year to 47.8Mt in 2004, the Spanish Cement Makers Association (OFICEMEN) said on January 18, 2005.  The 2004 increase was lower than the 4.4 per cent year-on-year growth of cement demand in 2003.  Cement production in Spain increased by 3.7 per cent to 46.3Mt. The cement kiln at Lafarge’s Cauldon Works is undergoing a GBP750,000 refurbishment.  Ian Mycock, Cauldon Works manager, says: "We shut down production every year to carry out vital routine maintenance to ensure we can continue to operate to the highest safety, environmental and quality standards.
