Vietnam sees rising cement demand

Vietnam will consume 28.4Mt of cement next year, up 23.5 percent against this year, the country’s Construction  Ministry said on Tuesday.  The country’s cement demand is estimated at 46.8Mt in 2010, some 62.5Mt in 2015 and around 69Mt in 2020. The Dadabhoy Group is poised to set up two new cement plants at a cost of Rs2.30 billion with Chinese cooperation at Nooriabad industrial area of Karachi. Work begins on French-funded cement plant

Work started on Sunday on the construction of a French-invested cement production plant in southern Dong Nai province by the Lafarge Construction Material Production Group. The grinding plant will be built at a total cost of US$30m, of which Lafarge Group contributed 70 per cent. Russian holding Eurocement Group has  completed the consolidation of its cement assets, according to a statement  from the company released Tuesday.  At present, Eurocement has six cement plants, two in the Arkhangelsk Region  and one each in the Chelyabinsk, Ryazan, and Sverdlovsk regions, the statement said.  The group holds 75 per cent to 100 per cent in each of the plants.
