Tam Diep Cement Co. under Vietnam Cement Corp. has recently put its factory into operation in the northern province of Ninh Binh to produce high quality cement, PCB-40.    The factory, costing VND4 trillion (US$254.8m), uses rotary kiln technology supplied by FLS Denmark and has a designed capacity of 1.4Mta. China produced 87,559,000t of cement in October 2004. The output in January-October reached 756,289,100t, up 15.3 per cent year on year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. The second highest monthly output was noted in September 2004 when 82.92Mt of cement was produced.

Cement sales decline 17% in November, Pakistan

KARACHI: Sales of cement dropped 17 percent on month-on-month basis in November but overall sales rose 29 percent on year-on-year basis, according to the data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA). 39.7Mt of cement was made in Russia in Jan - October 2004, an increase of 11.7 per cent from the figure posted in the same period 2003. Eurocement Group produced more than 8Mt of cement in the period or 21 per cent of the total Russia’s output of this type of construction materials, the group’s press service reported.  

November sales, India

India’s UltraTech Cement said its cement shipments in November rose 13.5 per cent to 1.045Mt from 921,000t a year earlier. Cimpor option to buy Spain’s Branas

Cimpor has said it has the an option to buy 100% of Spain’s Branas de Brins SA for EUR7.51m.  The Portuguese major said the price would be adjusted for debt assumed when it purchases the company.  Branas de Brins is located in Santiago de Compostela and runs a granite quarry with sales of 300,000tpa.
