Chilean company Materiales de Construcción Ventanas has submitted an environmental impact declaration for a US$18m cement grinding plant project to the country’s environment authority Conama. The project, dubbed "Planta de Molienda de Cemento, Puerto Ventanas," entails installing a grinding, storage and dispatch plant opposite of Region V port Ventanas, according to information from Conama’s website. Cementir President buys company shares

The president of Italian cement company Cementir, a unit of local construction company Caltagirone, Francesco Caltagirone Jr, has bought 80,000 company shares for a total 287,200 euro ($374,537), the company said in its report on internal dealings. The shares were acquired in two transactions dating back to November 18 and 19, 2004. The acquisition price stood at 3.59 euro ($4.68) per share in both transactions.

BNP Paribas, a French bank, and Viet Nam Construction and Machinery Installation Corporation (Lilama) signed a credit contract on importing equipment for Thang Long Cement Joint Stock Company project on Friday. Average cement prices in China have declined sharply over the  past several months due to capacity expansions, the China Business Post  reported, citing government and company officials. The Indonesian government still expects that Mexican  cement maker Cemex SA will agree to settle the dispute over the purchase of  majority stake in PT Semen Gresik out of court, Bisnis Indonesia reported  citing an official.
