The executive board of Holcim prepares to sanction an overhaul of the company’s cement plant in Baku controlled by the joint-stock company Garadagh Cement. The overhaul will include the migration to the semi-dry production period while the daily operating capacity of the plan will be raised from 2600tpd to 3500tpd clinker. Argentina’s largest cement maker Loma Negra is in advanced negotiations over its sale to Brazilian Caue Solucioes Construtivas, owned by the Brazilian sector group Camargo Correa, it was reported on November 9, 2004.   Loma Negra is expected to be sold to Camargo Correa for some $1.0 bln (Euro774m). TPIPL to spend $150m to expand capacity

TPI Polene Plc (TPIPL), Thailand’s third-largest cement producer, said it plans to spend about $150m in its project to expand its cement production capacity by 3.3Mta to service the increasing demand for cement boosted by the government’s infrastructure development projects. Zambian home affairs minister Lt Gen Ronnie Shikapwasha has ordered the deportation of Chilanga Cement general manager Ian Coulter. Immigration public relations officer Mulako Mbangweta yesterday said Coulter, 58, a Zimbabwean national, was deported because he was a danger to peace and good order in Zambia. New cement plant to be built in Morocco

Holcim will build a new cement plant with an annual capacity of 1.7Mt in Morocco’s principal market of Casablanca. Gresik predicts stagnation in sales

State-owned cement maker PT Semen Gresik is targeting only a 10 per cent increase in net profit this year with sales stagnating at around Rp5 trillion (US$554.89m) to Rp5.5 trillion . Sales are not expected to increase with the rising costs of energy, electricity and fuel, said S.G.
