The State Housing Corporation of Telangana has signed a memorandum of understanding with local producers to fix the price of supplied cement at INR230/bag (US$3.45), the New India Express reports. Vietnam 10M16 output up 15%

Vietnam’s cement production in the first 10 months of 2016 is estimated to be 64Mta, up 14.9 per cent YoY, according to the government-run General Statistics Office. Egypt: ASEC to sell Djelfa plant project

Egypt-based ASEC Group has reached an agreement with Algerian investors for the sale of a part-constructed cement plant site in Djelfa for US$60m. Information regarding the Algerian investors was not disclosed. The realisation of a 3.5Mta plant in Djelfa was launched by ASEC in  2008 with an investment of US$413m, but due to lack of funding the project failed. In 2012 the Minister of Industry revealed that Algerian banks refused to finance the project.

Tunisia: new Sidi Bouzid cement works online in 2018

Tunisia will see a new 1Mta cement plant entering service in 2018 in Sidi Bouzid, according to the Director General of the Manufacturing Industry Brahim Chebli. "This new project whose cost is estimated at TND500m will be launched in 2018," the official said in an interview with African Manager.  It is expected that the new works will also generate 300 new jobs.
