Argentina sees fall in domestic and export demand

In September 2016 Argentina’s cement plants dispatched 1,003,457t of cement, including exports, which represents a MoM fall of 4.1 per cent and a YoY drop of 11.1 per cent, according to the Asociación de Fabricantes de Cemento Portland (AFCP), the country's cement association. Malabar Cements Ltd resumed production on Monday, 24 October, following the stoppage of its operations on 10 September due to the non-availability of raw materials. Production was able to resume by bringing in clinker the company had in stock at its logistics centre at Kochi Port. According to the Chairman of the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI), Widodo Santoso, national cement consumption is expected to grow by 8.04 per cent in 2017, reaching 68Mt. Vietnam: 2016 sales goal looks unlikely

Concerns have arisen that the Vietnamese cement industry will struggle to meet its sales target of 75-77Mt this year as a result of ‘market difficulties’, as reported by Viet Nam News. Morocco’s cement demand fell by 19.1 per cent to 832,930t in September, according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Policy. Swiss cement sales up 2% in 3Q16

Swiss cement deliveries increased two per cent YoY in 3Q16, according to the Swiss cement association, Cemsuisse. In the first nine months of this year, domestic deliveries advanced 5.1 per cent.
