Turkmenistan looks to increase production capacity

Uptick in Indian demand expected from next fiscal

Cement demand in India is likely to see an uptick in the next financial year starting 1 April on expected pick-up in construction and housing activity as well as improvement in rural demand, says Reliance Securities. Though demand improved in January, pricing remained dismal due to oversupply and the attempt by new entrants to increase market share, the brokerage adds. But that should slow and construction demand recovery, improving industry profitability in the longer term, Reliance says.

Kenya: Bamburi railway supply boost

Bamburi Cement says it has earned KES1bn (US$9.8m) from supply of cement to the standard gauge railway (SGR) contractor, China Road and Bridges Corp (CRBC) according to a report by the Business Daily (Kenya). Cement deliveries in Colombia rose by 12.5 per cent YoY to 1.107Mt in December 2015, according to the latest data by the country’s statistics office, DANE. Angolan government maintains import ban

The government of Angola has decided to maintain the cement import ban in 2016 in 15 provinces, claiming that the installed capacity in the country far exceeds domestic needs, according to Angolan state news agency Angop. Egypt issues licences for new cement factories in Upper Egypt

Egypt's Ministry of Trade and Industry has issued new 14 licences for cement factories in Upper Egypt governorates, Minister Tarek Qabil announced Wednesday. According to the minister, the factories are set to operate with coal, providing them with the necessary energy security for stable cement production.
