Buzzi Unicem strengthens US distribution network

Buzzi Unicem has added three new terminals to its distribution network, acquired after the merger between Lafarge and Holcim. Located in Rock Island (IL), Grandville (MI) and Elmira (MI), the terminals will serve new markets for Buzzi.  Rock Island terminal has a cement distribution capacity of around 70,000tpa. Cement is delivered to the terminal from Buzzi's Selma (MO) plant by barge along the Mississipi river, or by rail from the Greencastle (IN), Cape Girardeau (MO) and Selma plants. ...

Official Indonesia cement industry statistics for January 2016 show robust gains in domestic demand and exports compared to the previous year. Preliminary US full-year shipment update

Shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico in 2015 totalled 91.493Mt, according to preliminary data from the US Geological Survey. Imports for the year accounted for 9.619Mt of the total. In December 2015 alone, shipments were 6.59Mt, with imports representing 674,530t of deliveries. Clinker production for the year was 76.544Mt, including 6.92Mt of output in December 2015.

China: Anhui Conch Cement's Shaanxi unit suspends production

Chinese cement major Anhui Conch Cement has confirmed that its subsidiary Liquan Conch Cement, situated in Shaanxi province, has suspended production. The decision follows legislation by the provincial government of Shaanxi requiring all cement and clinker producers to adopt off-peak production.
