SPCC to launch second production line, Saudi Arabia

Southern Province Cement Co (SPCC) is likely to launch the second production line at Bishah cement plant in December, said CEO Safar Dhaffir. The 5000tpd  line is established by China's CNBM at a total value of US$190m (SAR 713 million), to meet the growing demand for cement in the kingdom. The plant operates currently with a production capacity of 5,200tpd of clinker, OKAZ newspaper reported.

Ireland’s Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) will go to the High Court next month as part of its probe into alleged anti-competitive practices in the cement industry, according to a report in the Irish Times. Indonesian president caps cement prices during peak periods

Indonesia's president has signed a decree allowing the government to cap prices of cement, staple foods and other basic goods during peak periods, a presidential spokesman said. Since 1993, she has led a varied career with Lafarge, fullfilling a multitude of roles, including financial director of Betons France and director of strategy, public affairs and environment for Lafarge’s operations in France. CMS sees strong start to the year, Malaysia

Caha Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMS) reported a total revenue of MYR491m (US$132.3m) for the first quarter of 2015, an increase of 32 per cent from MYR373.24m a year earlier. Dangote Cement is reportedly planning to enter the Asian cement market with the construction of a cement plant in Nepal. Quoting Aliko Dangote, Bloomberg reported that Dangote Cement Plc should complete a factory in Nepal by the end of 2017. Wonder Cement Ltd plans to increase capacity to 10Mta in the next five years from the present 3.25Mta. ACC Ltd informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that it has resumed limestone mining operations at Bargarh in Odisha state after about nine months.
