India’s core sector growth rises to 4.4 per cent in May

Growth in India’s eight core sectors, including the cement industry, increased to 4.4 per cent in May 2015 versus a decline of 0.4 per cent in April. Clinker output in Saudi declined by 12 per cent YoY in May 2015 in producers deliberately attempt to shore up cement prices, claims a report by NCB Capital. Senegal: domestic market contracts, exports jump

Senegalese cement producers increased their output by 4.4 per cent in the first four months of 2015 when compared with the same period of 2014, according to the country’s planning and economic study department. Production went up from 1,752,000t to 1,829,400t. Domestic sales fell 6.4 per cent from 1,123,000t in 4M14 to 1,051,500t in January-April 2014. However, exports jumped 22.1 per cent from 656,500t to 801,500t in the same period.

Vietnam expected first-half output up 10.5%

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 32.1Mt of cement in the first half of this year, up 10.5 per cent  from a year ago, the government-run General Statistics Office said. In June alone, production totalled 6Mt, up 26.8 per cent YoY. JSW Cement plans two new grinding plants, India

JSW Cement plans to start two greenfield grinding units each in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, India, with potential locations currently being identified. Anil Kumar Pillai, JSW Cement Director and CEO, told the Deccan Herald that each project will involve an investment of between INR350-400 crore. Cement dispatches in Colombia increased 2.7 per cent YoY to 1.062Mt, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. The increase is primarily the result of an 8.7 per cent rise in the construction and contractors segment, which expanded by 8.7 per cent. Oman: OCC prolonged kiln shut down to impact 2Q performance

Oman Cement Co (OCC) said that the extended kiln closure of a 4000tpd line as part of planned maintenance will have an impact on it second-quarter performance.
