US April shipments climb 4.1% YoY

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico in April 2015 rose by 4.1 per cent to around 7.7Mt, latest data from the USGS shows. Vietnam half-year sales rise to 34.16Mt

Vietnam’s cement sales rose six per cent YoY to 34.16Mt in the first half of this year, meeting 47.4 per cent of the year’s plan, the Vietnam Building Material Association under the Ministry of Construction said. Sanghi Industries to inaugurate new mill, India

Sanghi Industries has installed a new 1.2Mta grinding mill at its plant located in Sanghipuram, Kutch district, taking total capacity to 4.1Mta. The company now proposes to commence work on a 15MW Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) system at the main part of the plant. Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel, will inaugurate the grinding facility and lay the foundation stone for the WHR plant at a ceremony on 10 July 2015.

Pioneer Cement has signed an agreement with CITIC Heavy Industries, China, to purchase a waste heat recovery (WHR) plant with a power generation capacity of 12MW. According to the company notice sent to the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) on Wednesday, the total estimated cost of the plant is PKR1.5bn (US$14.7m). Pioneer Cement's 2.03Mta plant is located at Chenki, District Khusshab, in the heart of Punjab province, 250km from Lahore.

Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister, Hoang Trung Hai, has agreed to allow Nghi Son Cement Corp to continue the pilot import of fly ash as material for its cement production. Birla Corporation Ltd (BCL) said on Thursday said it is awaiting mining clearances from the Assam Mineral Development Corp (AMDC) to set up a joint venture in the state. The Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCCN), on Tuesday said it would invest NGN48bn (US$240m) into the ongoing modernisation of its facilities to double its production capacity.
