Zuari Cement, part of the Italcementi Group, is looking to increase its presence in India ahead of an anticipated increase in domestic consumption. Azerbaijan-based producer Norm Sement plans to start producing oil well cement from 2016 to reduce reliance on imports, Hasan Yalcinkaya, CEO of the company, said at a briefing yesterday. Mechel signs memorandum with Jidong Cement

Russian mining and metals company Mechel ОАО signed a  coal supply memorandum with Chinese cement producer Jidong Cement. According to the signed memorandum, Mechel is due to supply 1Mt of steam coal produced at Neryungrinsky and Elga open pits to Jidong Cement between April 2015 and March 2016. Spanish regulator expands cartel probe

Spanish competition watchdog, CNMC, has expanded its probe into concrete and cement producers on alleged cartel agreements. The regulator carried out inspections at the headquarters of concrete and cement makers on 27 and 28 May as part of the probe on 14 sector players, the CNMC said in a statement.
