Iranian quarterly production update

Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade announced on Sunday that in the first three months of this year cement and clinker production reached 15.77Mt and 19.26Mt, respectively. Of the total, some 4.34Mt, according to the Ministry's figures. During month of Khordad (22 May - 22 June) more than 5.8Mt and 6.4Mt of cement and clinker were produced, respectively. Burnpur Cement inaugurates Jharkhand plant, India

Burnpur Cement's 800tpd cement plant in Patratu was yesterday inaugurated by Raghubar Das, chief minister of Jharkhand state, India. Addressing the gathering Burnpur Cement director, Ashok Gutgutwa, said the plant is based on dry-process technology. It is situated close to Patratu Thermal Power Station and within 10-15km of limestone deposits. It will produce OPC, PPC and Portland Slag Cement (PSC).

In the first half of 2015, Steppe Cement Ltd sold 717,654t of cement for KZT8277m (US$44.3m), which compares with 709,459t of cement for KZT9125m in the first half of 2014. Cemex Dominicana increases packing and palletising capacity

Cemex Dominicana recently announced a US$6m investment to increase the packing and palletizing capacity of its cement plant at San Pedro de Macoris (east). It said the investment in a new cement packing unit forms part of the company’s strategic plan in the Dominican Republic in response to local market requirements, Dominican Today reports. The new unit will boost Cemex's capacity by more than 1.5m additional bags monthly, or 800,000tpa.

Sanghi inaugurates Kutch grinding plant, India

Sanghi Industries' new 1.2Mta grinding plant was inaugurated on Friday by Gujarat Chief Minister, Anandiben Patel, in the western Indian state's Kutch district. The new unit lifts Sanghi's cement production capacity from 2.9Mta to 4.1Mta. Lafarge Africa to supply Nigerian electricity grid

Lafarge Africa said on Friday it had applied to Nigeria's energy regulator for a licence  to generate 260MW of electricity to supply to the country's grid. Chinese cement firms under Hubei's carbon market will be forced to spend millions of yuan to meet targets as authorities rejected pleas for leniency, but they now have more time to do so after the postponement of Friday's deadline, Reuters reports citing traders.
