Cemex may sell parts of business to pay down debt11 February 2015, Published under Cement NewsCemex could sell part of its business in northern Europe, the Mediterranean and Asia as it seeks to pay down debt, the company’s CEO told Reuters on Tuesday. Fernando Gonzalez said the firm could also sell 5-10 per cent of its subsidiary Cemex Latam Holdings, and set aside half of its earnings from asset sales to lower its debt burden. ACC resumes Chaibasa mining operations, India11 February 2015, Published under Cement NewsACC has resumed limestone mining operations at the captive mines of its Chaibasa cement plant in Jharkhand in eastern India, the company informed the exchanges. The Holcim group company had suspended mining activities temporarily in October at its plants in Chaibasa in Jharkhand and Bargarh in Odisha follwing a Supreme Court order. However, ACC resumed its operations after the government promulgated the mines and minerals (development and regulation) ordinance 2015 last month. |
Argentina: January domestic sales up 2% YoY10 February 2015, Published under Cement NewsThe Argentine cement market expanded by four per cent MoM and 1.9 per cent YoY as domestic sales reached 927,510t in January 2015, according to the latest figures released by AFCP, the country’s cement association. Imports increased from 163t to 227t. However, exports in January fell by 21.9 per cent when compared with January 2014 to 16,705t and by 27 per cent in comparison with December 2014. |

Polish monthly sales rise10 February 2015, Published under Cement NewsPolish cement sales rose by 15.4 per cent YoY in January 2015 to 638,500t, according to the country’s cement association, Stowarzyszenie Producentów Cementu (SPC). Production during the first month of the year, however, declined by 0.1 per cent to 520,000t, the data shows.
