Cemex Latam Holdings is to invest around US$340m in building an additional cement works in Colombia.  The new plant will be built in the Antioquia department, which is enjoying good economic growth.  The first phase will include a grinding centre and should be completed during the second quarter of next year. Total shipments of blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico including imports in the first six months of 2014 reached 39.5Mt, preliminary data from the US Geological survey shows. FLSmidth has announced a number of organisational structure changes, as well as adjustments to the Group Executive Management. The new organisation will consist of the four divisions. Aganang works to launch clinker production

Sephaku Cement has completed the commissioning of the clinker production facility at Aganang, South Africa, and is ready to commence production, the company said in a statement. Indonesian cement demand is poised to pick up following a 25 per cent YoY decline last month, analysts at CIMB have said. The bank says July's unusually weak figures were due to a combination of the presidential election and Eid celebrations. Iran’s output climbs to 23.8Mt

Iran produced 23.8Mt of cement during the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal year, which started on March 21. The figure is 31 per cent higher (5.7Mt) than the comparative period of last year, Iran's IRNA news agency reported. During the last fiscal, Iran’s output amounted to 69.46Mt, a 0.9 per cent YoY decline.

Pakistan sales decline in first month of new fiscal

Pakistan cement dispatches during the first month of the new fiscal (FY14-15) proved disappointing with both domestic and export sales registering YoY declines. Total sales during July 2014 fell 14.12 per cent to 2.23Mt compared to 2.6Mt, latest data from the Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) shows. Tengy Cement (Fiji) Company Ltd (TCFL), a Chinese investment company, has officially launched operations on the island of Fiji. Construction of the plant, situated in the outskirts of Lami, Suva, started in 2012 and was completed last year. Cement production began in February 2014 with 20,000tpa produced to date. Vietnam sales up 8% in first seven months

Vietnam sold 37Mt of cement in the first seven months of this year, up eight per cent from a year ago and fulfilling 59.75 per cent of the whole-year target, the country's Ministry of Construction said. Grinding unit planned for Karnataka, India

JR Super Cement is planning a 200tpd cement grinding unit and a coal-based captive power plant in the district of Bagalkot, Karnataka state, India. The project is waiting for environmental clearance. Work on the cement grinding unit is expected to commence in 1Q15 and work on the power project is expected to commence the following year.
