Vietnam cancels five plant projects from Master Plan

Vietnamese Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, has approved a proposal by the country’s Ministry of Construction to cancel five cement projects from the industry’s Master Plan 2011-2020. The five projects, which have a combined capacity of 0.91Mta, are Cao Duong, Cho Moi, Viet Duc, Long Tho and Ngan Son. Semen Indonesia is looking to further cater the Papua area of Indonesia, one of the fastest-growing markets in the country. Iran’s cement output totalled 29.504Mt in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year beginning 21 March 2014, the country’s Mehr News Agency reported. Vietnam’s export volumes up 20% YoY

In the first seven months of this year, Vietnam earned US$563.15 from exporting 13.1Mt of clinker and cement, up 24 and 20.4 per cent in value and volume terms, respectively.  Indonesia, Taiwan and Malaysia were the top importers of Vietnamese exports during the period, according to figures from the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade. Vietnam Jan-Aug sales up eight per cent YoY

Companies in Vietnam sold 42.53Mt of cement in the first eight months of this year, up eight per cent YoY and meeting 68.6 per cent of the year’s target, the Ministry of Construction said. The second phase of the repairs at Kiln 3  at Cuba's Siguaney cement plant in Sancti Spiritus is expected to be completed this month. Slovenian court revokes Trbovlje environmental permit

The administrative court in Ljubljana has revoked the environmental permit issued to LafargeCement, SeeNews reported citing Slovenian press. The permit was issued to Lafarge in January by the Environment Agency for its site in Trbovlje, state-run news agency STA said. The Trbovlje works of Lafarge Cement, 55.9 per cent owned by Lafarge Perlmooser, is located in central Slovenia, and has a production capacity of 0.45Mta of clinker and 0.6Mta of cement.

Venezuela: Cemento Andino operates at 86% of capacity
