Work has begun on the Pakistan International Bulk Terminal project at Port Qasim, the country’s first terminal for handling coal, clinker and cement. The state-of-the-art multi-purpose cargo handling facility will be built on a build operate and transfer basis. The ground ceremony for a new cement plant in northern Kyrgyzstan was held on Friday by ZETH Cement, a local subsidary backed by Chinese investors. Pakistan's export earnings down by one-third

During the first month of the new Pakistan fiscal, cement exports declined by 30.31 per cent YoY to 557,159t, with shipments to Afghanistan falling significantly. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico for the year through June 2014 reached 39.5Mt, up by about seven per cent from the same period in 2013. Colombian cement consumption increased 8.1 per cent to 1.059Mt in July 2014 when compared with the same month a year ago, according to the country's statistics office, Dane. The rise has been attributed to a stronger demand from retail outlets and concrete companies.
