Unicem cuts 32.5 grade prices, Nigeria

United Cement Company of Nigeria (Unicem) has decided to reduce the price of its 32.5 cement grade by NGN125, Bukola Adebisi, technical service engineer of the company, announced. Beni Suef Cement gas and diesel supply halted

Beni Suef Cement announced that gas and diesel supply to its factories has stopped since 26 August 2014, according to a bourse statement on Monday. The firm added that when energy supply was halted, it had storage and a stock of clinker which prevented the company from being impacted during the period. China’s watchdog fines three producers for price fixing

China’s price regulator has fined three domestic cement makers CNY114m (US$18.58m) for price fixing, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said in a statement on its website. Among the firms were units of Jilin Yatai Group Co Ltd , China National Building Material Co Ltd and Tangshan Jidong Cement Co Ltd.

Argentina: cement demand down 4.1% YoY

In August, the Argentinian cement market was supplied by 993,397t of domestic production and 254t of imports as it saw consumption fall 7.2 per cent YoY to 993,651t. US seven-month shipments reach 48.5Mt – preliminary data

Total Portland and blended cement shipments in the US and Puerto Rico for the seven months to the end of July 2014 reached 48.537Mt, preliminary data from the US Geological Survey (USGS) shows. Of the total, domestic supplies amounted to 44.672Mt while imports were 3.865Mt. Pakistan’s August cement dispatches higher

Total Pakistan dispatches during August increased by 23.2 per cent compared to the same month of last year with strong increases seen on both the domestic and export front. Latest data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association shows that total dispatches reached 2.7788Mt last month compared to 2.254Mt in August 2013. Cimentos Tupi to build new plant in Paraná state

Brazilian producer Cimentos Tupi is to invest BRL915m (US$408m) in a new factory in Adrianópolis, Paraná state. According to local news reports, the plant will have a capacity of 1.5Mta. Cimentos Tupi executives signed a letter of intent with the state government of Paraná yesterday. The new investment will be the company’s first cement facility to be located in the south. Dangote rolls out price cuts, Nigeria

Dangote Cement yesterday said it has reviewed the price of its cement in Nigeria and announced a price cut of NGN100 (US$1)/50kg bag.
