Qassim Cement line resumes production, Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia-based Qassim Cement Company (QCC) said that a fire which broke out last Wednesday was caused by a fuel leak from the pumping station. Damage from the blaze led to the temporary suspension of one kiln line. However, the company said it embarked on immediate repair measures and production was scheduled to have resumed yesterday. QCC does not expect the kiln stoppage to have a negative impact on sales.

HeidelbergCement has successfully commissioned a new cement mill at its cement grinding plant in Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia. Algeria’s cement imports double

Cement imports into Algeria reached US$159.4m in the first five months of 2013, representing a 102 per cent rise when compared with the equivalent period of 2012, according to the National Information and Statistics Centre of the Algerian Customs. In terms of volumes, a 105 per cent rise was noted with tonnage reaching 1.791Mt. The rise is due to the launch of new projects and the resumption of public construction work since the start of spring.

Pakistan's June dispatches dragged down by lower exports

Total dispatches by Pakistan cement manufacturers during June 2013 fell 6.44 per cent to 2.702Mt compared to 2.888Mt in the previous month, held back mainly by lower export volumes. Domestic dispatches declined 1.4 per cent on monthly basis to 2.07Mt in June 2013 compared to 2.10Mt in the month before. JK Cement aims to double capacity in 5-7 years

Colombia’s cement demand slipped by 0.3 per cent in May, driven by a decrease at retail level. Distribution to builders and contractors as well as ready-mix companies, according to the national statistics office Dane. Peru's five-month cement deliveries rise 12.7%

In May, Peru’s Asocem members delivered 832,648t of cement to the domestic market and exported 12,460t. For the year to-date, deliveries increased by 12.7 per cent YoY.
