Indonesia’s Oct cement sales rise 21.8% YoY

Indonesia’s cement sales rose 21.8 percent in October from a year ago, a slower pace than September, data from the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) showed on Thursday. Sales in October were 4.7Mt, compared to 3.8Mt a year ago, due to the increased development of infrastructure and property, Urip Trimuryono, the chairman of the association, told Reuters. FLSmidth on Thursday cut its full-year 2011 expectation for world cement capacity growth and narrowed its revenue outlook slightly towards the upper end of an earlier range. Italcementi says French unit merger long-term plan

Italcementi will not pursue a merger with its French unit Ciments Francais in the near-term, but has not abandoned tie-up plans, its managing director Giovanni Ferrario was cited by Reuters as saying. Pokot project on track, Kenya

Construction of the new Pokot cement works, being built by the Sanghi Cement group, will be completed in two years. The company said it is on course with all processes and that the project would take off as planned. Cemtech said it is currently importing materials from China and India. South Africa will provide a captive power plant for the project. The plant is expected to produce 1.2Mta of cement.

PPC aims for sales beyond South Africa to rise to 50%

Pretoria Portland Cement Co (PPC) said it’s aiming to increase sales from the rest of the continent to 50 per cent in the next five years. The contribution from Africa, excluding South Africa, has doubled in the past two years to about 20 percent, Chief Executive Officer Paul Stuiver said in an interview with Bloomberg. Qatar cement demand forecast to rise

The average demand for cement in Qatar is estimated at 4.8Mta in 2012-17, which is higher than the current level, according to a Global Investment House report.

Ahangarancement open joint stock company, part of Eurocement Group (Russia) produced 1.3Mt of cement in January-September 2011, the Russian company said. Clinker output for the period was 1Mt. Vietnam’s cement consumption stood at 39.1Mt in the first 10 months of this year, fulfilling 71% of the sector’s whole-year target.
