Jaypee Group Acquires GP Goenka’s Andhra Cement

Jaypee Group is acquiring a controlling stake in GP Goenka group’s Andhra Cements. The deal involves Jaypee Development Corporation, a privately held arm of the group, acquiring 66.7 per cent in Andhra Cements for INR234.7 crore. Lafarge unit relocating headquarters, USA

A unit of Lafarge Cement North America is relocating its headquarters and about 50 jobs from Lee’s Summit to the Executive Hills East Business Park in Kansas City. The Economic Development Corp. of Kansas City, which worked with Lafarge, said the lease and improvements in the office space represent about a US$1.5m investment.

ZAO Ulyanovsktsement boosted production of cement by 19% in the first 10 months of this year versus January-October 2010 to 1.39Mt. Production of clinker totaled 1.1Mt, up 4% YoY. Between January-October 2011 shipments reached 1.39Mt of cement, up 19% YoY, parent company Eurocement Group said.

Lafarge WAPCO increases supply to the Nigerian market

Ahead of the inauguration of its new cement plant in Lakatabu, in Ewekoro, Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria, has increased the supply of cement to the Nigerian market. Since full production began at the Ewekoro factory in September, the plant has achieved over 58,000t of clinker production, 37,000t of cement and supplied 35,000t of cement to the market. With the addition of the new plant, the company will now be producing over 8Mta.
