INC seeks approval to increase cement prices, Paraguay

Paraguay’s National Cement Industry (INC) has put forward a plan to officially increase cement prices from PGY35,000 to 42,500 per bag (US$8.7 to US$10.7), before the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC). According to president of INC, Edgar Acosta, who recently met with Minister Francisco Rivas, while the state cement company is independent and autonomous as a public company, he and his team prefer to work with the support of the MIC.

Dyckerhoff enhancing Ukraine operations

Dyckerhoff (Ukraine), will invest EUR3m in installing a new separator for the two cement mills at Volyn Cement. 
The company said it was the biggest investment for 2011 and work began earlier this year and will be completed in April 2012, said director genera of Dyckerhoff Ukraine, Paolo Selano. The Sub-National Committee of Cement Companies of the Council of Saudi Chambers warned of a new crisis facing the cement industry due to fuel shortages experienced by companies in the Kingdom, Yalla Finance reports. Euroconstruct: slower construction recovery expected

The recovery in European construction output is expected to be slower than had previously forecast, Euroconstruct said on Friday. The market research firm said a recovery was under way but cautioned that it expected construction output in the 19 European countries it monitors to fall by 0.4 per cent in 2011 compared to the 0.1 per cent drop it had forecast in December. China prices up 13.6% YoY

Iraq approves new cement factory

Iraq’s cabinet has approved the construction of a cement factory in southern Iraq, a government official said. The factory will be built in Diwaniya province, 150km south of Baghdad, and will cover an area of about 185 acres, according to a statement from the office of government spokesman Ali Al-Dabbagh.
