Nevyanskiy production advances, Russia

Nevyanskiy cementnik, part of the Eurocement group, produced 107,577t of cement up to May 2011 surpassing its target. For the first five months of the year output is on a par with 2011 figures, and dispatches have increased by 2.7%.

Russian production volumes up

Russian cement production in April rose by 12 per cent compared to the same month last year. For the first four months of 2011, production output rose by 16.3% YoY, reaching 12.8Mt. The average price of cement, meanwhile, increased 3.1 per cent to RUB2247 (US$80) from the same period last year. However, compared to December 2010, the price of cement has only risen by 1.3 per cent.

Chinese experts to set up feasibility study for new Bolivia plant

The proposed construction of a cement plant in Cochabamba, Bolivia is set to gain momentum thanks to a visit from a delegation of Chinese engineers to collaborate in developing a feasibility study. Cimpor begins exporting to Cape Verde

Cimpor’s Loulé cement works is to benefit from its close proximity to the port of Faro in the Algarve, in the south of Portugal, and has begun exporting cement to Cape Verde. Shipments are scheduled for for once a week.

Russia’s second-largest state lender VTB has opened a RUR1bn (US$36.1mm credit facility for Novoroscement, a cement producer based in Novorossiysk. Siam City fire incident at Saraburi Plant, Thailand

Siam City Cement has reported that a fire broke out at the limestone conveyor belt within the raw material preparation area of Plant 3 of the company’s plant in Saraburi Province. Drake Cement LLC is set to officially mark its new plant on 17 June 2011. Taiwan Cement targets 55Mta of output in China

After acquiring the cement subsidiary of Prosperity International Holding last year, the Taiwan Cement Group aims to produce in China 55Mt this year, and expects to acquire another cement plant soon, somewhere in southern China in the second half of this year.

ACC Ltd said its cement capacity will now reach 30Mta on completion of its expansion programme.
