Russia Jan-May 2011 production increases YoY

Cement production in Russia during January-May 2011 totalled 18.1Mt, data from the Federal Statistics Office showed. Compared with the corresponding period of 2010, production increased by 2.2Mt.  In May 2011 alone, output stood at 5.3Mt.   Last year, Russia produced 50.4Mt, up 13.8 per cent from 44.3Mt in 2009.

Rostov plant of Lafarge to be commissioned by end-2015

Lafarge has changed a schedule for commissioning of its RUB18bln cement plant construction project in the Matveyevo-Kurgan district of the Rostov region. Holcim Catskill employees offered new training programme

Workers laid off last week from the Holcim cement plant who plan to enroll in a retraining or academic program destined to teach them new skills are now eligible for special benefits, under a recent decision by the federal government.

Peruvian shipments increase YoY

Peruvian cement shipments in the first five months of 2011 totaled 3.197Mt, 1.66 per cent more than in the same period of 2010, when they amounted to 3.145Mt, reported the Association Cement Producers (Asocem). 

 During Jan-May 2011 period, cement production was 3.29Mt, representing a YoY increase of 2.62 per cent, when it was 3,20Mt.
