Vietnam produces 41.3Mt of cement Jan-Sep

Cement producers in Vietnam are estimated to have produced 41.3Mt of cement in the first nine months of this year, according to the General Statistics Office. This represents a rise of 16.8% when compared with the equivalent period last year. During September, output reached 5Mt, up 26.8% YoY. The Ministry of Construction predicts the country will see a surplus of at least 2Mt this year as several new cement plants have entered operations at a time when export plans are facing difficulties....

China’s cement output up 12.8% in Aug

China produced 167.8Mt of cement in August this year – an increase of 12.8% YoY. The latest data from the National Development and Reform Commission show that growth was 3.8 percentage points lower than that of the previous month. As a result, cement output in the first eight months of 2010 rose 16.7% YoY to 1.18bnt. The factory price of cement from key producers reached CNY309.5/t on average, a rise of CNY15.4/t MoM. Vietnam orders halt to clinker imports

The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has requested businesses to stop importing clinker until the end of 2011 to halt the country’s widening trade gap.
