Libya, Syria establishing a joint cement factory

Libya, Syria are preparing a draft agreement on establishing a joint-company to set up a cement factory in Syria , reports according to Syrian-Libyan Strategic Cooperation Council.

Saudi cement companies production increases.?

Total production of the 10 cement companies operating in Saudi Arabia during 2009 stood at about 31.98Mt from 29.66Mt in corresponding period last year - thus recording a rise of 7.8 per cent over the preceding year.

Orissa clears industrial project proposals

Orissa’s single window clearance committee Friday cleared 16 new project proposals of Rs.6,500 crore, an official said. The projects proposals by 16 private companies were cleared by the committee led by Chief Secretary B.K.Patnaik, state Industries Secretary Saurabh Garg told IANS. The projects are in steel, cement, food processing, down stream industries and ancillary sector, he said. Indian producers report better sales in September

Cement demand in September was up in many parts of the country, post-monsoon. Companies hiked prices mainly due to higher production costs. A 50-kg bag is now dearer by Rs 10-20 while another increase of Rs 5-10 is likely soon, said a cement dealer.

 The South, where prices have almost bottomed out, saw the maximum hike of Rs 20 a bag followed by the western and central regions, where it was raised by Rs 10, he added.

Colacem to begin dismantling Alicante silos

Second cement plant for al-Muthanna, Iraq

Iraq’s al-Mabrouka company will be building a US$200m cement factory in the country’s al-Muthanna province. All legal requirements relating to the land contracting and transfer have been completed, according to a spokesman for the project. Cimpor acquires stake in Cimentos de Nacala, Mozambique

Portugal-based Cimpor has bought a 51% stake in Mozambique’s Cimentos de Nacala from Brazil’s Camargo Corrêa Cimentos, the company announced in a regulatory filing issued in Lisbon.  Cimentos de Nacala is based in the north of Mozambique, where it has a 0.35Mta cement mill with land and limestone quarries. ACC’s cement output drops in September

ACC announced that the cement production during September fell to 1.52Mt compared with 1.64Mt the previous year. Cement despatches followed a similar trend from 1.63Mt down to 1.58Mt. The company’s cumulative output from Jan-Sep2010 decreased from 16.12Mt to 15.57Mt YoY while its despatches over the same period fell from 16.12Mt to 15.59Mt.
