Cement production increased seven per cent Y0Y in August and was at 1.75Mt, Poland’s Cement Association informed. During the first eight months of 2010, production was at 10.04Mt of cement, 0.7 per cent less YOY. Cement sales in August increased 12 per cent YoY to 1.79Mt.

Indian cement companies Tuesday raised prices by an average INR30 per 50kg bag in the country’s southern region, a person familiar with the matter said. Germany’s construction activity increased in August from the previous month, but the reading was still below the neutral 50.0 mark, a report by the Markit Economics showed on Monday. The seasonally adjusted construction purchasing managers’ index, or PMI, rose to 48.5 in August from 44.8 recorded in July.
