Indian producers cut Mumbai prices

Indian cement manufacturers cut their product prices by INR2-INR4 per 50kg bag in the western city of Mumbai Friday, a trade official said Monday. 
"With the monsoon going strong, we could see more such small price cuts in the
western region in September," the official told Dow Jones Newswires on condition
 of anonymity. India’s June-September monsoon rains have picked up pace across western India,
slowing construction activity.

Benue Cement 1H10 profit down 2%, Nigeria?

Nigeria’s Benue Cement Company said on Friday its half-year pretax profit had 
fallen two per cent to NGN9.48bn (US$63m), it said in a filing with the Nigerian
 Stock Exchange. 
Turnover at Benue Cement, a unit of local conglomerate Dangote Group, fell to 
NGN18.88bn in the first half from NGN19.59bn in the same period a year ago, it
 said. 
Benue said pretax profit in the first quarter was down 15.5 per cent at 
NGN4.52bn.

?India’s monthly infrastructure output grows 3.9%

India’s infrastructure output grew 3.9 per cent in July, marginally higher than annual growth of 3.6 per cent in June, as crude oil and refinery output grew in double-digits, government data showed on Friday.

analysts expect growth to pick up over the next few months.

The Nepal government has said that it will decide the fate of six different cement brands that it banned last week after conducting additional laboratory tests. Portuguese cement producer Secil Group, 51% owned by local diversified holding group Semapa, closed the first half of 2010 with a turnover of EUR 273.1m (US$347.7m), down 6.7% YoY.
