LSR Group decides to bonds, Russia

OJSC LSR Group has decided to place Series BO-02 certificated interest-bearing non-convertible bearer bonds of OJSC LSR Group with mandatory safekeeping in a securities depository with a total value of RUB2bn (US$64.9m). The bonds will be placed through public subscription. The placement commencement date is 14 September 2010.

The identifying number of the issue is 4В02-02-55234-Е dated 24 November 2009. The number of bonds to be placed is 2 million with a nominal value of RUB 1,000 each....

First cargo of cement exported to Iraq by railroad

The first cargo of cement from Arvand Free ZoneArvand Free Zone of Khuzestan province was exported by Khorramshahr-Shalamche railroad to Iraq. Managing Director of the Free Zone Aliasghar Parhizgar told IRNA on Tuesday evening that using railroad in border area would be the least expensive way of transporting goods. 

He said that at the first phase, around 570 tons of cement was transferred to Shalamche border point and then exported to Iraq, Zawaya news reported.

Vietnam cement sales in August rise to 4.51Mt

Cement sales in Vietnam are estimated to have surged to 4.51Mt in August from 3.72Mt in July, the financial website InfoTV cited the Ministry of Construction as saying Monday. The figure has increased the country’s total cement sales to 32.5Mt between Jan and Aug, meeting 65% of its full-year target, the ministry said. Holcim Bulgaria to close cement plant by end-2011

Holcim Bulgaria plans to shut its cement plant in Pleven, northern Bulgaria, by the end of 2011, the company’s CEO said on Tuesday. "Our plant in Pleven is too small to survive. We are going to close it by the end of next year," Todor Kostov said in a interview with local business daily Pari. Continental Cement Company layoffs

Another Tri-State area company is confirming layoffs at its facility and managers say a low demand for their product is to blame. 28 workers at the Continental Cement Company in Hannibal got the pink slip last week. This is the second layoff at the Hannibal company this year and the first since Summit Materials out of Washington D.C. took over the company. With this latest layoff, there are now fewer than 200 people at the Hannibal plant.

Saudi Yamama Cement 1H net profit rises 23%

Saudi cement producer Yamama Cement Company said it registered a 23 per cent YoY rise in its net profit for the first half of 2010 to SAR 357m (US$95.2m) from SAR291m a year ago. The strong increase was attributed to a rise in sales, Yamama Cement said without giving exact figures. The earnings per share (EPS) stood at SAR2.67, up from SAR 2.16. The gross profit rose to SAR378m from SAR316m.

JK Cement denies meeting Holcim for buys, JVs

JK Cement on Tuesday denied a newspaper report which, citing unnamed sources, said top officials of the firm met their counterparts in Holcim AG to discuss acquisitions and joint ventures. DNA reported on Tuesday officials at the Indian company met officials of the Swiss firm early this month.
