Dangote Cement saw its cement sales volume improve 7.6 per cent YoY to 17.8Mt in 9M18. Over the same period, group revenue advanced by 13.5 per cent to NGN685.29bn (US$1.88bn), while net profit rose by 2.7 per cent to NGN158.28bn. Grinding specialist Gebr Pfeiffer has received the order for a coal grinding system to be installed at Samrat Cement Co Pvt Ltd’s new plant in the Dang region of southern Nepal. While the new kiln system will be supplied by KHD, the German contractor has ordered a MPS 225 BK coal mill from Gebr Pfeiffer to produce pulverised coal for the coal-fired kiln. South Korean investors looking at DRC limestone deposit

A group of South Korean investors visited the Bakwa Tshiluila limestone deposit in Kasai Oriental province, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Their mission was to carry out feasibility studies in cement production, diamond mining and agriculture. Investors were interested in the quality of limestone but reportedly voiced concern over the power supply to the area.

Dangote starts work on the construction of a XOF180bn (US$315.8m) cement plant in Keita, Niger, according to the country’s national TV organisation. While other southern cement producers have been  wary of a slowdown, Power Cement Ltd (PCL), owned by the Arif Habib Group, has a need for expansion.
