Peruvian cement producers dispatched 1.062Mt of cement in May 2021, representing a 228 per cent increase YoY from a low base due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Cement dispatches from Peru in April surged to 0.985Mt in April 2021 from a low base of 0.011Mt in April 2020 when the country was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Cement dispatches in Peru surged 151 per cent YoY to 1.09Mt in March 2021 from a low base of 0.435Mt in March 2020, when the country faced measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, according to its national cement association, Asocem. Interoceanicos to build cement plant in Puno

Peru-based Cementos Interoceanicos has signed an agreement with Satarem to build a 1Mta cement and two lime plants in Puno, Peru, in the next 18 months. The cement producer expects to enter the area’s cement and lime markets in the next two years. The project represents an investment of US$158m. Satarem aims to have a 30 per cent stake in the shareholding of Cementos Interoceanicos as a result of the agreement.

Peruvian cement producer Unión Andina de Cementos (UNACEM) saw its revenues advance by 16.2 per cent YoY in the 4Q20, driven by a 14.5 per cent increase in dispatches in Peru with improved average prices as well higher cement and ready-mix deliveries in Ecuador. Cement dispatches in Peru increased 18 per cent YoY to 1.059Mt in January 2021 from 0.895Mt in January 2020, reports Peruvian cement association, Asocem. Peru’s Cementos Pacasmayo has announced a 27.1 per cent rise in revenue to PEN475.3m (US$130.4m) in the 4Q20, compared with PEN374m in the final quarter of 2019. Domestic dispatches in Peru increased 12 per cent YoY from 0.979Mt in December 2019 to 1.098Mt in December 2020, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem.
