Cement dispatches in Peru increased eight per cent YoY to 1.173Mt in March 2022, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. In March 2021 dispatches were at a level of 1.089Mt. Cement dispatches in Peru reached 1.088Mt in February 2022, up five per cent when compared with February 2021, according to the Peruvian cement association, Asocem. The total includes shipments by Asocem members (1.018Mt) and non-affiliated cement producers, which accounted for around 70,000t. Peru’s Ministry of Labour and Employment Promotion has started a series of technical meetings with construction unions and companies to lower the weight of cement bags in the country from 42.5kg to 25kg. The move is designed to help prevent lower back injuries as a result of carrying the heavier weight bag. Cement dispatches to the Peruvian cement market by Asocem members reached 1.012Mt, up two per cent YoY and by 22 per cent when compared with January 2020, according to Peru’s cement association, Asocem. Sales volumes of cement, concrete and prefabricated products of Peru-based Cementos Pacasmayo fell 6.2 per cent  in the 4Q21 when compared with the 4Q20. Income was up 10.4 per cent as cement and concrete prices increased in line with inflation and by a change in the sales mix, favouring cement and concrete at better prices. Peru’s cement market expanded by 4.7 per cent YoY in December 2021 to 1.275Mt when compared with the previous year’s December month, when consumption reached 1.218Mt, according to the country’s cement association Asocem. Cement dispatches in Peru increased three per cent YoY and 21 per cent when compared with November 2019 to 1.208Mt, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association.
