Saudi Arabia removed restrictions on cement imports to secure extra supplies at a stable price, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said. “There are no restrictions on cement imports currently,” according to a statement posted on the Ministry’s website. Cement exports have already been halted and plants have been ordered to operate at full capacity. Iran cement exports rise 17 per cent

Iran exported over 9.3Mt of cement in the first 11 months of the year (ends 19 March 2012), representing a 17 per cent YoY rise, IRNA news agency reported. Azerbaijan readies itself to export cement by 2014

The government of Azerbaijan has said that by 2014 the country will be exporting 25 per cent of the cement it produces as new capacity comes on-stream in the coming years. Pakistan cement exports in the first seven months (July 2011-January 2012) of the current fiscal year fell in terms of quantity but gained in price by US$4.33/t, data by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows. Cemex CEO Lorenzo Zambrano has reiterated that the company will appeal a fine for allegedly blocking competitors from bringing cement into Mexico, the Wall Street Journal reports. Saudi Arabia has stopped cement and clinker exports to prevent shortages and to stabilise domestic prices. FY12 has been witnessing a drop in Pakistan’s export sales, whereas domestic cement dispatches have been rising.
