Ho Chi Minh City prices rise, Vietnam

Cement prices in some factories located in Ho Chi Minh City (HMC) factories have risen by VND93,000/50kg bag despite declines in local demand. Currently, Ha Tien 1 is selling cement at VND93,000/bag (US$4.46), while Holcim’s cement is priced at VND92,000/bag (US$4.42).

The average price of cement nationwide fell 1.12% last week, dragged down by the price declines in Henan and Guizhou provinces. Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces had published winter cement prices last week, and Harbin Portland cement 32.5 was priced at CNY400/t (US$62.9/t). Ethiopian cement factories, Mesobo and Mugher have reduced the price of their cement products. The price changes are effective for Mugher products starting today. The new prices for Mugher Cement in Addis Ababa are ETB278 and ETB350 for OPC. The average price of cement, which stands at INR280 per bag (US$5.36) of 50kg, may go up by between INR3-6 per bag in the current month on increased construction activity, according to report by Crisil Research. Ethiopian cement factories, Mugar and Messobo, have requested that the government halt cement imports in letters to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. Pakistan cement manufacturers and exporters during first four months of current FY2011-12 (July-October) exported 2.991Mt of cement and earned US$161.702m compared to 3.347Mt at US$162.993m in the corresponding period of the previous year.
