Oman is expected to witness increasing exports this year thanks to demand from markets like Yemen and East Africa, a new research report has forecast. Following moves by larger Ethiopian cement manufacturers to secure export permits, two small-scale cement companies have also approached the government for licences. During the first eight months of the current fiscal (July 2011-June 2012), Pakistan cement exports have progressed in terms of value while the markets of Afghanistan, India and Saudi Arabia look promising.  The eight month period (July 2011-February 2012) saw Pakistan export 5.855Mt of cement with a value of US$303.127m compared to 5.905Mt at US$290.852m in the corresponding period of last year. Namibian cement producer, Ohorongo Cement, has delivered its first consignment of bulk cement to south Angola, according to local press reports. A bulk tanker shipped the load to Santa Clara last Monday, The Nambian reported. Bangladesh manufacturers and exporters of cement, salt and stone have reported YoY growth of 46.33 per cent in the first eight months of FY2011-12 (July-February). Of these three items, cement accounted for the largest amount as over 200,000t is exported annually while volumes of salt and stone volumes amount to only a few thousand.
