Algeria exports US$30m of cement in 5M19

Algeria has exported cement to the value of US$29.96m in the first five months of 2019, an increase of 849.6 per cent YOY, according to the Directorate of Studies and Customs Prospectives, reflect the drive by the sector as well as the ambition of the country’s government to increase its cement exports to US$500m over the next five years. Ukraine extends ban on Russian imports

The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has amended the decree on the ban of imports of Russian goods into the country, extending its operation until 31 December 2020, according to UkrInform The import of Portland, aluminous, slag and other similar hydraulic cements and clinkers is prohibited. On 15 May, Ukraine imposed an embargo on Russian cement and plywood in response to the decision of the Russian Federation to close access of Ukrainian goods to Russia.

Pakistan's State Bank releases 3QFY19 cement report

Southern Cross Cement plans new terminal in Brisbane

Australia’s Southern Cross Cement, a joint venture between Brickworks, Neilsen Group and Neumann Group, has announced an AUD60m (US$42.19m) investment for a new cement terminal at the Port of Brisbane. Cement exports from Turkey in the first half of 2019 have increased by 46 per cent YoY to US$444m, according to the Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TÇMB). Less than a year after commissioning its cement plant at Tonneins, Aliénor Ciments has been awarded its first NF Hydraulic Binder certification. The certification relates to its CEM I 52.5 R CE CP2 NF product. The certification attests that the cement complies with the standards and additional requirements by Afnor Certification and allows the Cem’In’Eu subsidiary to display the NF mark on the packaging of the company’s relevant products and transport vehicles.
