Bolivian cement producers are demanding a government ban on the import of Peruvian cement and clinker by Cemento Yura. In addition, they expect the Bolivian government to raise tariffs for clinker imports and take other measures against unfair competition in the market by Cemento Itacamba.

Delays in offloading clinker at Chittagong following marine incident

Delays in the offloading of clinker have been experienced at Bangladesh's Chittagong Port after bulk carrier Ocean Phoenix, laden with 45,000t of clinker on board, started to drift on the outer anchorage, after her anchor dragged. The vessel then made contact with the anchored stern of bulk carrier Green Phoenix, which was also loaded with 54,500t of clinker. Pakistan's exports continue to rise MoM

Pakistan cement exporters earned revenues of US$14.86m on exports of 282,304t cement in May, 2017, compared to US$13.49m on 255,778t of exports in the previous month, reports Pakistan's Federal Bureau of Statistics. These figures represent a MoM increase in dollar value and volumes of 10.2 and 10.4 per cent, respectively. Nepal sees rise in cement imports from India

Cement imports from India to Nepal have doubled over the first 10 months of the current fiscal, according to a report in the Himalayan Times. The value of imports of cement arriving into Nepal from its neighbouring country reached NPR16.02bn  (US$155.8m) compared to NPR7.99bn in the corresponding period of the last fiscal. Pakistan cement exports continue to disappoint

Pakistan exported 225,778t cement in April on revenues of US$13.49m, down 25.28 and 18.54 per cent, respectively compared to the previous month. Compared to April 2016, export volumes were down by 49.65 per cent from 507,958t and revenues fell by 49.65 per cent (US$26.31m) a year earlier, data from Pakistan's Federal Bureau of Statistics shows. Vietnam exported more than 1.9Mt of cement and clinker, reflecting an export value of US$67.4m, according to the country’s Customs Department. This represents a YoY increase of 6.7 and 7.6 per cent, respectively. In the first four months of the year, the country exported 6.7Mt of cement and clinker, up 12.8 per cent YoY. Hail Cement obtains cement export licence

Hail Cement Company has obtained a cement export licence from the Saudi Ministry of Commerce and Investment. The licence will be valid for one year from the date of approval on 14 May, according to a bourse filing on Tuesday. The company does not expect neither a financial impact from the licence on its results nor a positive impact for exporting cement due to high export fees.
