Côte d’Ivoire imports 150,000t of cement

To address the current shortage of cement and rising prices, Côte d’Ivoire’s government has decided to import 150,000t of cement between April and July 2017, according to Industry and Mining Minister, Jean-Claude Brou, and the Minister of Commerce, Crafts and SMEs, Souleymane Diarrassouba. Central American cement trade falls 14% in 9M16

The total value of traded hydraulic cements in Central American countries fell 14 per cent from US$56m to US$48m in the first nine months of 2016, according to CentralAmericaData. Volumes dropped from 0.494Mt in 2015 to 0.426Mt in 2016. Gambia’s government has announced a lowering of import tariffs on cement. The supplementary tax of GAD1/kg of cement as well as the five per cent tax levied on cement imports has been lifted.

Vietnam exported 4.82Mt of cement and clinker worth US$168.65m in the first quarter of this year, representing 11 per cent increase YoY in volume and 6.4 per cent in value, according to the latest data of the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Fiji: clinker shipment unloaded for Pacific Cement Ltd

The vessel MV Festival, carrying 24,000t of clinker for Pacific Cement Ltd, has reached Lami Town, Fiji. The method of discharge has been changed due to a High Court ruling, meaning trucks must now be loaded in a barge and the clinker unloaded into the trucks onboard said barge. Nine Vietnamese seafarers are listed as missing following a collision involving a clinker carrying ship off Vietnam’s southern coast on Tuesday morning.
