Paraguay: INC faces increased Brazilian imports

Brazil’s current imports of around 400,000 bags of cement is damaging the Paraguayan cement industry, according to Jorge Méndez, CEO of Industria Nacional de Cemento (INC). This represents over a third of monthly cement demand. "What we're seeing is that cement consumption is virtually unchanged, but a lot of product is entering [Paraguay] from Brazil," he said. Pakistan cement exports 5Mt in FY15-16

During first 10 months of the current FY15-16, the Pakistan cement industry exported 5.05Mt of cement and earned export revenue of US$274.34m compared to 6.64Mt at US$382.39m in July 2014-April 2015. Twiga Cement announced at its Annual General Meeting held in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the dividend had risen from TZS267 (US$0.12) in 2014 to TZS306 in 2015. Sesia Nectar Port Services Inc announced the start of commercial operations at its Mariveles Dry Bulk Terminal in the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), Philippines. PPC Ltd shares plunged after it said talks with a credit ratings agency will probably lead to a downgrade. The company is preparing a capital raising of ZAR4bn (US$254m) to be used to reduce debt and fund expansion plans, PPC said in a statement. Bangladesh remains Vietnam's strongest export market

From January to April, Vietnam exported 5.99Mt of cement and clinker to Bangladesh, which remains Vietnam's largest export market with US$64.46m. The Philippines (US$58.47m), Taiwan (US$10.67m), Mozambique (US$9.9m), and Chile (US$9.72m) are also major importers of Vietnamese cement. Vietnam's cement consumption in these four months was also very positive reaching 18.85Mt, representing an increase of 117.4 per cent YoY.
