Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico in August 2016 were 9.4Mt, up by 3.1 per cent from sales in August 2015. Building material imports (cement, iron and steel, wood and ceramic products) stood at US$1.61bn over the first nine months of 2016, against US$1.95bn in the same period in 2015, down -17.65  per cent, the Customs told Algerie Press Service. Preliminary data from the US Geological Survey (USGS) for US shipments of cement in August 2016 estimate that Portland and blended cement totalled 9.41Mt in the month. This is up on July’s cement shipments of Portland and blended cements which reached 7.14Mt. For YTD, end-August, US shipments of cement totalled 61.4Mt. Angola: Cimangola to cease clinker imports

Nova Cimangola announced that it will stop importing clinker and instead use domestic resources. The company has identified a raw material deposit near Luanda, where its plant is located. According to Manuel Pacavira Júnior, Nova Cimangola administrator, the company will save approximately US$50m a year.
