GCC to invest US$90m in US plant

Buzzi Unicem to build new Texas rail terminal, USA

Buzzi Unicem USA is to construct a US$7m rail terminal in northwest Temple, Texas, officials announced Friday. The terminal will use at least 1000 rail cars each year for cement distribution. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico in June 2015 were about 8.9Mt, up by 7.6 per cent YoY, according to data from the the US Geological Survey (USGS). CRH's first half turnover advanced by 12.6 per cent to €9,370m and the EBITDA improved by 9.9 per cent to €555m. The trading profit increased by 11.2 per cent to €189m and after a net interest charge 8.6 per cent higher at €139m, the pre-tax profit increased by 3.3 per cent to €63m. Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) reported a 19 per cent rise YoY in second-quarter net sales to MXP3051m (US$186m) on the back of higher volumes and a better pricing environment both in its Mexican and US markets.
