New BOPP film for extra bag protection

Cosmo Films, a speciality films manufacturer, has launched a special biaxially oriented polypropylene film (BOPP) to provide extra protection for cement bags. Vietnam earned US$335.12m as it exported 8.97Mt of cement and clinker in the Jan-Jul 2016 period, up 18.8 per cent YoY in value, but down 6.2 per cent in terms of volume. Bangladesh: Payra seaport ready to unload first cargo

Bangladesh's Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, is expected to inaugurate the first deep-sea port in Patuakhali, about 320km southwest of Dhaka, through a video conference tomorrow. Payra seaport will start operations on a limited scale by first unloading cargo from a vessel arriving from China, but the port will not be fully operational until 2023. Bangladesh: Premier Cement expansion plan

Premier Cement Mills Ltd has plans to more than double its production capacity, with an approximate investment of BDT4bn (US$51m). Current production capacity stands at 6000tpd and will be increased to 16,000tpd. Of the BDT4bn investment, BDT2.09bn (US$26.7m) will be used for equipment and machinery import, and the remaining BDT1.91bn (US$24.4m) for construction and other local purposes. The expansion is scheduled to be completed by 2018.

In an attempt to boost bilateral trade, the Bangladeshi government is discussing the possibility of duty-free export of cement and other commodities with the Nepalese government.
