Indonesia saw cement demand advance by 1.9 per cent YoY to 7,326,461t in October 2019 from 7,187,897t in October 2018, as reported by Semen Indonesia. Market expansion was largest in Sulawesi where volumes were up by 18.5 per cent to 661,453t YoY while Nusa Tenggara reported a 13.2 per cent increase in sales to 444,057t in October 2019. Semen Indonesia Group, including SBI, reported a 40.8 per cent rise in sales volumes to 4,771,181t in October 2019 when compared with a volume of 3,388,174t in October 2018. Semen Indonesia, excluding SBI and TLCC, reported a 5.8 per cent uptick in sales to 3,342,839t from 3,159,448t. Following its acquisition by PT Semen Indonesia, PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia (SBI) has changed its Holcim cement brand to Dynamix in an effort to strengthen its position in an increasingly-competitive national market. Semen Indonesia Group reported a 38.8 per cent YoY hike in sales volumes in September to 4,287,396t. Of this total Semen Indonesia saw its sales increase by 3.3 per cent YoY to 3,015,298t, which include a 39.4 per cent rise in export sales to 312,118t. Cement consumption in Indonesia remained largely stable at 6,728,921t in September 2019 when compared with September 2018, according to the latest data by the country’s cement association, ASI. After being acquired by PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (SBI) has changed its Holcim cement brand to Dynamix. In August 2019 the Semen Indonesia group sold a total of 3,960,297t of cement and clinker. This compares to 3,820,717t in the previous month. Semen Indonesia contributed 2,788,895t to the August total, a contraction of 3.96 per cent YoY, mainly from domestic sales (2,465,795t) but also exports (323,101t). Cement deliveries in Indonesia slipped by 3.2 per cent YoY in August 2019 to 6,323,297t from 6,532,840t in August 2018, according to data by the Indonesian cement association, ASI, cited by Semen Indonesia Group. Semen Indonesia reported a four per cent fall to 2.789Mt in total sales in August 2019 when compared with the previous year, when the company achieved sales of 2.904Mt.
