Indonesian cement market expands 6% in April

Indonesian cement consumption advanced six per cent YoY in April to 5.337Mt, according to the Indonesia Cement Association. Growth was particularly strong in Sumatra, where demand increased by 12.2 per cent. On Kalimantan deliveries rose by 7.5 per cent to 340,520t while Maluku and Irian Jaya saw demand pick up by 6.2 per cent to 103,479t. Rembang plant has environmental go-ahead

PT Semen Indonesia says it has fulfilled all of its operational requirements at its 3.3Mta Rembang cement plant, Central Java, since last March despite a series of protests by locals over environmental issues. PT Semen Indonesia's corporate secretary, Agung Wiharto, said the company had obtained all permits to build the greenfield factory, including environmental ones. Semen Indonesia sold 6.79Mt of cement in the first quarter of 2018, up four per cent YoY. Domestic sales accounted for 6.19Mt of this, marking a 1.3 per cent improvement YoY. Exports, meanwhile, advanced by 44.9 per cent YoY to almost 0.6Mt. Cement sales in Indonesia increased by 3.5 per cent YoY to 5,204,852t in March 2018 when compared with 5,027,799t recorded in the year-ago period, according to figures by the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI). In February off-take in the domestic market advanced by 5.9 per cent YoY from 4,554,653t to 4,821,262t. Gebr Pfeiffer receives multiple mill order for Grobogan cement plant

Gebr Pfeiffer has been awarded its first contract to supply MVR mills to Indonesia. The mills will be set up at Grobogan cement plant located close to Semarang in Central Java. The package includes two MVR 5000 C-4 mills for cement grinding and one MVR 5000 R-4 for raw material grinding and a MPS 3350 BK mill for grinding lignite. Indocement opens new Palembang terminal

Indocement has opened a new cement terminal in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. The 0.5Mta terminal will improve the company’s distribution and logistics in the western part of the archipelago.
