Malaga Port has ended the year having exported in excess of 230,000t of clinker. Thanks to the partnership between Servimad Global and the Finance and Mining Company, Malaga Port has restarted cement exports that had been paralysed since December 2018. Cementos Molins signs EUR180m green loan

Spanish cement producer Cementos Molins has signed a EUR180m green loan to refinance all of its domestic debt and extend its maturity by five years. The agreement includes one EUR40m loan and a EUR140m revolving credit facility, of which EUR50m are already available with the balance to be used for future projects. Cementos Tudela Veguin has inaugurated its new terminal at El Musel, Gijón, Spain. The new terminal will enable the company to receive and store cement in a 4500m 2 warehouse. Bulk and bagged product from the facilities of Masaveu Industria will be handled at the terminal. The terminal facilities also include a 1250m berth for ships with a 23dwt draught. Spain's cement demand edged up 3% in October

Cement consumption in Spain increased by three per cent to 1.3Mt in October when compared with October 2018. The rise has been attributed to an increase in housing construction. In the first 10 months of the year demand increased by eight per cent. However, the Spanish cement association, Oficemen, said that this represents a smaller advance than the 11.5 per cent noted in the first half of the year. Cement consumption in Spain has increased 2.6 per cent YoY to 1,162,861t in September 2019, according to Oficemen, the Spanish cement association. However, Imports surged 87.5 per cent YoY to 50,000t. Demand in the first nine months of 2019 has advanced by 8.5 per cent YoY to close to 11Mt. However, exports have continued to fall. Cement demand in Spain declined 1.4 per cent YoY to 1,089,617t in August, according to Oficemen, the country’s cement association. In addition to lower domestic sales, exports have dropped by a quarter, registering a fall for 27 consecutive months. Spain’s cement association, Oficemen, has appointed Víctor García Brosa as its new president. Mr García Brosa is currently deputy general director of Cementos Portland’s managing board. A chemical engineer by training, he entered the cement industry in 2005, when he took up a post in Portland Valderrivas’ strategic planning unit. In 2015 he was appointed director general of the FCC subsidiary. He will succeed Jesús Ortiz, who will step down after a two-year tenure at the helm of Oficemen. ...

Clinker transport returns in Port of Málaga

Following a stoppage of several months, the transport of clinker has resumed in the Port of Málaga, Spain, after the installation of a pioneering conveyor belt.
