Vietnam sold 72.79Mt of cement in the first eleven months of this year, a rise of 3.5 per cent from a year earlier and this fulfilled 91 per cent of the full-year target. Possible power price hike to increase Vietnamese production costs by US$35m

Vietnamese cement producers can expect a production cost rise by around VND800bn (US$35.2m) annually if a hike in power prices comes into effect, according to local industry sources. Vietnam sees 7% rise in output in 11M17

Vietnam produced 77.9Mt of cement in the first 11 months of this year, representing a 6.6 per cent rise YoY, according to the latest data from the government-run General Statistics Office. In November alone, 8.9Mt of cement were produced. In 10M17 69Mt of cement left Vietnam’s cement plants. In 2016, domestic output stood at 78.6Mt, including 7.3Mt in December.

State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem), the country’s leading cement producer, sold 20.93Mt of cement in the first 10 months of 2017. The volume reflects a drop of 1.1 per cent YoY. Total cement exports from Vietnam rose to 15.12Mt in the first 10 months of 2017, representing a 22.9 per cent YoY increase. SCG Cement’s revenue from sales in Vietnam has seen an eight per cent rise YoY to VND6.88tn (US$309m) for 3Q17. The company’s revenue from selling high-valued products reached VND87.13tn for 9M17, which is a rise of seven per cent YoY and represents 39 per cent of the group's total revenues. In addition, the company invested VND1.6tn in research and development activities in the first nine months of 2017, according to Roongrote Rangsiyopash, the company's president and CEO.

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 69Mt of cement in the first 10 months of this year, representing a 6.5 per cent rise YoY, says the government-run General Statistics Office. Domestic cement producers manufactured 8Mt in October. In the first nine months, output from the country’s cement plants reached 61Mt, according to the office’s revised data. In 2016 output reached 78.6Mt.

Vietnam's cement and clinker consumption rises in 9M17

The total consumption of cement and clinker from Vietnam cement producers grew six per cent to 59.27Mt in the first nine months of this year, reports the Ministry of Construction.
